Real,Raw and Relatable: A collection of stories from the people of South Auckland

Jasmine Jenke

Notes
As evident from the sub-title, this beautifully produced book is a collection of short stories from the people of South Auckland.
The Director of the production of this book, Jasmine Jenke states - "I wanted to start an initiative that focussed on the positive stories about the people in the community of South Auckland. Having been a follower of the Humans of New York Facebook page I decided to replicate that part of their story-telling model. But I also asked the public to nominate their unsung heroes and colourful characters through the Humans of South Auckland facebook page. This allowed the team to meet and tell the stories of over 150 people within the community."

Each one page story comes with a wonderful photogaph of the subject.

Humans of South Auckland is an idea based on the Humans of New York Facebook page. They are a team of volunteers who believe in developing hope and pride in the community. They aim to do this by telling real stories of everyday South Auckland people. Their vision is "To develop hope and pride in our South Auckland community and to develop hope and pride in our South Auckland Community by sharing stories of people as individuals, not stereottpes or statistics".
